The Historian Behind the Dream
At the helm of this journey to the 13th century sits Angelo Tirrito, founder of Baronìa and President of the Association. His mission is rooted in an academic rigour of excellence, forged in the lecture halls of the University of Palermo and perfected with high specialisations in Museology and the Enhancement of Cultural Heritage.
A historian, curator and fine connoisseur of the dynamics of the territory, Angelo has dedicated his life to the study of sources and the narration of hidden beauty. From the curatorship of highly prestigious exhibitions, such as the one dedicated to the golds of Monte Castello, to the direction of this Open Air Museum, his approach blends scientific analysis with a popularising capacity capable of enchanting the visitor. For Angelo, Baronìa is the ultimate work: a synthesis of archival research and experimental archaeology.

Baronìa is not just architecture and stone; it is the breath of a community that has decided to defy time. L’Mussaro Antiqua Association was born as an alliance of intentions, a handful of scholars and enthusiasts dedicated to the noble art of historical enhancement. Our path is traced by the desire to restore Sant'Angelo Muxaro to its medieval dignity, transforming its identity heritage into a sensorial and educational experience accessible to contemporaries. Each of our actions is a bridge thrown between the feud's glorious past and the future of Sicilian villages.

Baronìa is not just made of stone and wood, but of gestures, stories and ancient wisdom. Meet the characters that make our village alive
- The Baker and Craftsman
Parellus
Parellus gets up before the sun rises, when the village is still immersed in silence and the first lights begin to come on. He lights the oven, bakes bread for the whole community. But Parellus is not only a baker, he is also a craftsman: he moulds pottery, makes tools useful for the daily life of the village. His knowledge serves to feed and help the village. In Baronìa, each inhabitant will have a story.
- The Farmer
Mattheo
His main job is to work the land, tending the garden that will provide food for the village. Monthly he works the Baron's land at the request of Baiulo Raynerus. His skin is darkened by the sun, his hands and body marked by working the land. In the Middle Ages, the land is not just work, but life. A poor harvest can change everything.
- The Hunter
Gilbertus
The hunter moves through the forest without making a sound. Every step is careful, every glance gauges the danger. He hunts not only for himself, but for the community. On his skill depends meat for the village, skins for protection, tools for survival. In the forest there are no mistakes, only experience.
- The Baiulo
Raynerus
He is the key figure in the village. He is the direct vassal of the Baron of Mussaro. For the latter, he administers local justice, settles petty disputes between the villagers, ensures order and organises the collection. Raynerus does not live with the other villagers, you will not often meet him in the village. He lives in his house and on his estate in the upper part. But if you are lucky, you will be able to watch and participate in his regular activities among the inhabitants. In Baronìa, nothing happens without his judgement.
