The Rebirth of Mussaro: From Vision to Stone

A hectare of history, a village reconstructed on a 1:1 scale, a philological journey between experimental archaeology and sustainability.

Archaeology comes alive

This mediaeval village is not a simple set-up, but a Open Air Museum (open-air museum) based on the canons of the Living History. Here, the reconstruction is not a fiction, but an act of historical fidelity: each structure is designed based on archaeological evidence and documentary sources, to return a 13th-century Sicilian rural village to the world in all its authentic beauty.

The Soul of the Earth

A Pact between Man and Nature

Baronìa has its roots in the Contrada Fontanazza, a strip of Sicily where the landscape is not just a backdrop, but the absolute protagonist of the historical narrative. At the foot of Monte Castello, the natural environment preserves intact the wild energy that once welcomed the first settlers of the Mushar feud.

Our project was born with the promise to respect this age-old balance. We do not just build, we commit ourselves to cultivating the memory of the place.

Institutional Support

Cultural regeneration for Sicily

Baronìa is a project of excellence realised thanks to the support of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRP). Included in the programme of the Ministry of Culture and managed by Invitalia, the village represents a milestone in the valorisation of small historical villages. It is an entrepreneurial initiative that aims to create new opportunities for the local community, transforming Sant'Angelo Muxaro into an essential destination for international cultural tourism.
